Just on the east side of highway 207 at Lake Mackenzie is Tule Canyon. The canyon begins just east of the highway. It's on private property so access is complicated but it is a beautiful and dramatic canyon with a lot of high plains history and it really needs to be a state park or national monument. To the owners credit they have protected it and left it wild and natural. If you search for Tule Canyon Texas or Tule Canyon Narrows you can find pictures of it, mostly from drones.

In the summer of 1980, my best friend and i put a 16 foot john boat in at Jefferson, Texas and paddled down into the Caddo Lake. We did this because we were leaving for Marine Corps recruit Traning at the end of the summer. My friend passed away a couple of years ago, but this is one of my most cherished memories with him.

The Texas settlers simply did to the Comanches, and others, the same thing the Comanches, and others, did to those who were there before they moved in. The Mexicans couldn't defeat the Indians, the Anglos could. That's pretty much sums it up.

My wife and I went to Ft. Davis several years ago, on a my Harley, from Dallas. It took 10 hours to get there. Sadly, at the time, we both were working and because of that, we had to leave the next day without seeing much of anything there. Maybe sometime, some day, we’ll go back and see what we missed.

Are y’all sure tht this is the most beautiful river in all of Texas or is it the most gorgeous river in all of America cuz I’ve stumbled across some really nice rivers But neither came quite as close to being as stunning as this one And to you non Natives/out of towners tht say Texas isn’t hilly and it’s flat well there you have it Texas is by far one of the most attractive states in America I mean we dnt just have the Devils river cuz if you thought this one something you guys should see the Hamilton pool preserve if you haven’t already or the hill country or the view from enchanted rock or make your way to the willow city loop or the beauty of the canyon lake And if you like caves The cavern of Sonora definitely will not disappoint Texas is breathtaking our gems or just hidden And we prefer better tht way cuz if they weren’t our state would become just like California && Florida one big tourist cesspool 🌊🏖️🍸
